Motion, Apple’s standalone FCP component designed for customizing titles, transitions, and effects, has been updated to version 5.0.1 to add support for dual displays, as well as to fix a number of issues with the software.

In addition to aiding FCP editing, Motion also lets creatives achieve their own animations in 2D or 3D space, with real-time feedback.

Launched alongside Final Cut Pro X earlier this year, Motion 5 delivers breakthrough speed and quality with a new 64-bit architecture that supports deeper, multilayered effects for use in FCP, and tons of other enhancements.

For example, Motion leverages the GPU (the processor used by a graphics card) for high-speed rendering and exporting.

You can enhance your 2D or 3D animations with more than 130 filters using the FxPlug 2 standard, and you can get instant results by making adjustments to any parameter during playback.

According to Apple, the 5.0.1 update improves overall stability and performance.

Motion now has support for dual displays, and provides for correct kerning between characters when applying adjustments.

It fixes an issue with the import and playback of multichannel audio, as well as a stability issue when navigating to keyframes at a negative time.

The app used to incorrectly position text when the Inspector is open. Not anymore, according to the tech giant based in Cupertino, California.

Finally, the update resolves stability issues when entering an empty string in a title while in Draft Mode, Apple says.

The update is recommended for all users of Motion 5 and it’s available as a free download for those who’ve bought the $49.99 / 39,99 € application.

System Requirements include 2GB of RAM (4GB recommended), OpenCL-capable graphics card or Intel HD Graphics 3000 or later, 256MB of VRAM, a display with 1280-by-768 resolution or higher, and roughly 2GB of disk space.
